Getting Started
Troop 301 - Katonah/Lewisboro
Feel free to come to a few meetings to learn more about our troop. Once you've decided to join the troop, there are few things you need to do.

You will need to fill out a Scout Application. Ask an adult leader during a regular meeting for an application, or you can Apply Online. Adults who wish to become leaders in the troop must fill out an adult application which is subject to a background check and completion of the Youth Protection Training. All adults are strongly encouraged to take this online training course even if they do not become registered leaders.
Talk with one of the adult leaders during a meeting about the current fees for joining.
Make sure you get added to the our Google Groups distribution list to get all the latest updates.
The single most important piece of equipment a Scout needs is the Scout Handbook. You can buy the handbook at a Scout Shop closest to you or you can buy the handbook and all other items you need online at https://www.scoutshop.org/.
Each Scout should have a uniform. Our Troop will provide a neckerchief, neckerchief slide, and custom troop 301 patch. We will also have a Troop t-shirt that will be designed by the Scouts.
It's best to go to the Scout Store in Hawthorne to determine the right size. Here are the items you should purchase:
Uniform
BSA Girls' Rollup Pants or Microfiber Convertible Scout Pants (the microfiber pants are better for camping)
Patches
For our new scouts, most equipment can be borrowed. It is helpful for each scout to have some basic outdoor equipment and clothing. The Troop has camping equipment that Scouts can borrow for each campout.
IMPORTANT: Before making any purchases of camping equipment, be sure to consult with the Troop's leaders who can provide recommendations based on the type of camping we will be doing.
